Google Commits 1 Million AI Chips to Anthropic in Landmark Cloud Deal
Google has entered into a multi-billion dollar agreement to supply AI startup Anthropic with up to 1 million tensor processing units (TPUs), marking one of the largest hardware commitments in the artificial intelligence sector. The deal, which includes tens of billions in cloud infrastructure investment, will bring over 1 gigawatt of computing capacity online by 2026 to support Anthropic's rapidly expanding AI model training operations.
Anthropic's Claude AI now powers more than 300,000 businesses, driving annual revenue to $7 billion. The arrangement preserves Anthropic's multi-cloud strategy, allowing continued access to Google, Amazon, and Nvidia infrastructure. Google's total investment in Anthropic reaches $3 billion, while Amazon has committed $8 billion, reflecting intense competition among tech giants to back leading AI innovators.
